Description
Ikat is the craft of weaving with tie-dyed yarns to create colorfully patterned textiles. It is a way to resist dye. In Odisha, Single Ikat is referred to as Maniabandha Ikat and associated with Khanduas. These fabrics are tie-dyed and hand woven by craftsman from a family well known in Maniabandha village for weaving and for their legacy of having the most talented percussionists in one house. He started working on this craft when he was 12 years old.
