Descriptions:

Khadi fabric is not only Hand woven but even the yarns used for weaving are Hand spun in a charkha (a hand cranked, manual spinning machine). So, when the yarns are hand spun and then it is hand woven then we call it Khadi. Khadi has a rugged texture, comfortable feel and is said to have the unique property of keeping you warm in Winter and cool in Summer. Khadi is organic and has a zero carbon footprint!

The Lambani embroidery is an amalgam of pattern darning, mirror work, cross stitch, and overlaid and quilting stitches with borders of “Kangura” patchwork appliqué, done on loosely woven dark blue or red handloom base fabric.
The 14 types of stitches used in Lambani embroidery are Kilan, Vele, Bakkya, Maki, Suryakanti Maki, Kans, Tera Dora, Kaudi, Relo, Gadri, Bhuriya, Pote, Jollya, Nakra. Products made with such embroidery have wonderful textures and a bohemian style, making them very popular.
Lambani Hand embroidery work done by IDF Kai Krafts, an NGO supporting women artisans and crafts of Northern Karnataka located in Dharwad, India.
